On July 12, 2020, Shanghai International Textile Graduate Summer School began its last day of courses. Today, Professor Xungai Wang from the Deakin University, Professor Gang Sun from the University of California at Davis in the US, Specially-appointed Researcher Jifu Mao from Donghua University gave lectures for students and opened a new chapter for everyone.

In the morning, Professor Xungai Wang started with a question about smells in real life and drew out the topic which is why we should study the properties of fiber and textiles related to smell. In class, Professor Wang introduced the importance and application of fibers and textiles that can repeatedly absorb odors. Meanwhile, he gave a presentation about the implementation process of some smell detection. The questions raised by Professor Wang are the ones that many people encounter in their daily lives, so they are resonated and concerned by the students.

Next, Professor Gang Sun introduced antibacterial and biological protective textile. The transmission of viruses and bacteria, the mortality of diseases caused by them and the control present situation are analyzed. Then he concluded that it is necessary to study antibacterial protective textile materials and the halamine polymeric films and fibers with antibacterial function can be obtained by textile finishing.

  In the afternoon, Jifu Mao, a distinguished Specially-appointed Researcher from Donghua University, introduced to the students the electrically conducting fibrous materials for biomedical applications. The course covers tissue engineering, bio-electrical phenomena, conductive biomaterials-composite film, biomedical applications. Specially-appointed Researcher Jifu Mao is funny and humorous, and the classroom atmosphere is very good.

As time goes by, the summer school was coming to an end, but the students remained enthusiastic and actively participated in the class. Today's lecture is very close to life and creative innovations in research often come from life. In this summer school, every student has benefited a lot.
