On July 11, lectures were given by Prof. Martin W.King from North Carolina State University, Prof. Liu Wanjun, one of the research commissioners in Donghua University, Prof. Tao Xuyuan from the National School of Higher Textile Engineers in France, and Prof. Hugh Gong from the University of Manchester.

The first lecture was given by Professor Martin W.King -- Role of Textile Support in the Connection of Regenerative Tissue. Professor Martin gave students a brief introduction of some basic respects: the causes and principles of tissue engineering, the structure and requirements of textile support, gradients of functions in interface tissue engineering, knitting support used for tendon connection and braiding support used for the connection between tendinous bones. In addition, experimental methods related to tissue engineering, including instrument testing, characters and properties analyzing were also explained in detail. After class, Professor Martin also actively helped students out with many questions according to the previous several courses. Although Professor Martin’s sharing is coming to an end today, the knowledge he dispersing to us is always on the way.

Professor Liu Wanjun introduced the topic: Nonwovens Used for Immune Isolation -- Protecting Islets and Treating Diabetes. Starting out with the treatment and challenges of diabetes, the cell encapsulation technology that involves nonwovens used for immune isolation was then raised. Moreover, Professor Liu further introduced the 3D structure of direct bio-printing, the structure of bio-locatable perfusion blood vessel, the biological printing of a variety of materials, and the morphology control of grooved micro/nano fiber from different aspects. At last, he answered the questions raised by students and shared his valuable experience to us.

Professor Tao Xuyuan brought us the lecture which is related to the methods of choosing the micro controller of intelligent textiles. Focused on some popular electronic textile control boards, Professor Tao gave many examples of micro-controllers used by his own team, as well as the specific functions and detailed information of each part of the controllers. With various kinds of short videos and professor’s vivid words, the lecture made students all immersed in the learning atmosphere. Finally, Professor Tao Xuyuan shared some experiences during his teaching career in the National School of Higher Textile Engineers in France.

Professor Hugh Gong gave us the last lecture. He introduced the properties of textiles, such as pilling, as well as their testing and analyzing methods. He then mainly introduced the properties of textiles and apparel like hand feeling, bending performance, drape performance, shear performance and so on.
