On July 1, Professor WEI Yi from Donghua University, Professor Seeram Ramakrishna from National University of Singapore, Professor Hugh Gong from the University of Manchester, and Professor SHEN Jinsong from De Montfort University gave inspiring academic reports.
With the theme of "Textile Material Application in Advanced Composite Materials", Professor WEI Yi systematically introduced what advanced composite materials are, research examples of advanced composite materials and fiber fabrics, and the connection between composite materials and future life. He uses refined language and exquisite pictures to vividly display the textile materials in various advanced composite materials. He pointed out that after decades of development in the advanced composite material industry, great progress has been made in the preparation of raw materials, design and technology, and engineering applications in the world, and China's advanced composite materials will usher in unique opportunities in the future. The students actively asked questions and gave speeches, and the professor answered the questions one by one.
With the theme of "Sustainable Materials", Prof. Seeram Ramakrishna introduced the development history of sustainable materials, the necessity of promoting the use of sustainable materials and the relevant policies issued by the government on sustainable materials. The construction of new consumer demands in the new era is accelerating, and people pay more attention to the safety and environmental protection of textile materials themselves. Therefore, sustainable materials have broad application prospects in the textile field. Through his vivid explanation and specific case analysis, the students' interest in exploring sustainable materials has been greatly stimulated.
Professor Hugh Gong introduced the knowledge about the properties of textiles. He pointed out that textile materials are different from some materials, and their properties are extremely complex. In order to grasp the properties of textile materials, a series of tests are required. He introduced various test methods and explained how different methods and conditions affect test results. Finally, it is emphasized that according to the actual situation, reasonable selection and use of relevant standards are the golden principles for testing the performance of textiles.
Professor Shen Jinsong gave a series of lectures on "Innovative Technology of Textile Functionality and Sustainability". He introduced the formation principle of superhydrophobic surface and its application in textile field. He pointed out that in recent years, self-cleaning surface coatings of superhydrophobic nanocoatings have been widely used in reality. Due to its unique surface microstructure and excellent superhydrophobicity, self-cleaning surfaces based on superhydrophobicity make it difficult for rain, ice and snow to adhere to their surfaces, so they are used in architectural glass, automobile and aircraft windshields, satellite antennas, high-voltage wires, and even has important application prospects in locomotive and aircraft painting. Through the professor's explanation, the students developed a strong interest in superhydrophobic textiles.
