On July 6, Professor Martin W. King from North Carolina State University, Professor XU Yingjiao from North Carolina State University, GUO Leiming, a distinguished researcher from Donghua University, and Professor TAO Xuyuan from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles made wonderful academic reports.

With the theme “The challenges and rewards of Graduate Study”, Professor Marin. W. King introduced what science and Scientific Research and scientific hypotheses are, and why scientific research should be conducted, then he illustrated the scientific methods from four aspects: theory, hypothesis, data observation and conclusion, and analyzed how to carry out effective scientific research in combination with the case of textile science and engineering innovation. He pointed out that graduate students in the future study will deal with many challenges, in the study and research process should be scientifically rigorous.

Professor XU Yingjiao introduced the theme of“Consumer behavior in textile and fashion industry”, and systematically introduced the seven stages of consumer decision-making model, and analyzed the consumer behavior in the textile industry, and compared the factors that affect the consumer behavior through the examples of online shopping and offline consumption. She pointed out that the behavior of consumers is affected by the external environment, so it is necessary to start from the needs of consumers and external things, and continue to innovate and improve.

Dr GUO Leiming, on the topic of“Functional Porous Block copolymers”, explained in detail the types of block copolymers, the synthesis methods, the factors affecting the physicochemical properties of block copolymers and the corresponding assembly methods, and the formation of the porous structure and the application of the polymer in porous carbon structure and inorganic material filling were also introduced. Functional Porous Block copolymers play an important role in the material, whether as the main component or the minor component. It made the students clear about the formation principle of the material through the way of combining pictures and texts.

Professor TAO Xuyuan brought the third lecture of“Intelligent textiles and their applications”. He went on to explain the electronic textiles I0T intelligent clothing, the application of the relevant electronic component in smart textiles, and how to choose the appropriate electronic component to connect with its performance and components were introduced. The participants gained a better understanding of smart textiles and their electronic component application methods.
