On July 1, Professor Xu Yingjiao from North Carolina State University, Professor Martin W.King, Professor Tao Xuyuan from the French National Institute of Textile Engineers, and Professor Shen Jinsong from de Montfort University gave excellent presentations.
With the theme of "Consumer Behavior and Market Analysis related to the textile and fashion industry", Xu Yingjiao guided students to think about five changes in the Chinese consumer market and future development trends, and put forward multiple entry points such as demographics, economy, value, environment, and consumption concepts. It focuses on how to use the seven-step method of "consumer decision process model" to research and analyze related issues, including the causes and effects of online shopping, new online shopping methods, consumption patterns and evaluation of consumer behavior, etc., combining theory with practical application to open a new perspective for students.
With the theme "The World of Medical Textiles", Martin W. Kan focused on the principles and applications of textile technology in tissue engineering, including knitted scaffolds for muscle-tendon joints and woven scaffolds for muscle-bone joints. Tissue engineering used in the medical field needs to have the characteristics of support strength, appropriate aperture, good biocompatibility, and so on. The advantages of textile structure, such as light weight and softness, can well meet the relevant needs, and play an important role in tissue engineering that can not be ignored.
With the theme of "Smart textiles and their applications", Tao Xuyuan started from the history, classification and definition of smart textiles, introduced smart materials, functional materials and electronic fabrics and other aspects, and showed the students a rich and colorful world of smart textiles. He described four levels of integrating smart materials into textile structure, through which the performance of traditional fabrics can not be obtained, and can be used in medical, military, smart wearable and other fields to broaden the application scenario of textiles.
With the theme of "Advanced Textile Biotechnology", Shen Jinsong focused on the application of enzymes in textile wet processing. Starting from the definition of enzymes, he introduced the different functions of various enzymes, the classification system of enzymes and the advantages of enzymes in textile processing. Taking indigo jeans as an example, the application of amylase, cellulase and catalase in the process of fabric processing was described to help students better understand the close relationship between enzymes and the textile field.
