On July 4th, Professor Xiaohong Qin from the Textile College of Donghua University, Professor Ningtao Mao from the University of Leeds in the UK, and Professor Xuyuan Tao from the National Higher Institute of Textile Technology in France gave excellent presentations.

Classroom Interaction

Professor Xiaohong Qin gave a comprehensive introduction to the development of the college. She reviewed the college's century-long history and particularly highlighted the college's leading academic position in the textile discipline both nationally and globally. The college has multiple national-level research platforms. It has achieved outstanding results in high-performance fibers and intelligent manufacturing, etc. Professor Qin also emphasized that the college encourages innovation, provides sufficient research funds and international exchange opportunities, and its graduates are highly sought after in the fields of textiles and new materials. The presentation fully demonstrated the academic strength and educational characteristics of Textile College of Donghua University, providing an important window for candidates to gain a deeper understanding of the college.

Professor Ningtao Mao systematically expounded the core concepts of industrial textiles design - demand-oriented and performance priority. He emphasized that the design of industrial textiles must closely align with the specific needs of the industry, driving product development with precise performance indicators to ensure functionality and practicality. Prof. Mao pointed out that one should start from multiple aspects such as material selection, structural design, and performance optimization. By taking an efficient liquid-absorbing and quick-drying textile as an example, he fully presented the design process from demand analysis to performance testing, highlighting the wide application value of this methodology in fields such as household care and industrial protection, and providing important guidance for students' research and practice.

Professor Ningtao Mao

Professor Xuyuan Tao focused on introducing the research progress of electronic textiles and smart textiles at the National Higher Institute of Textile Technology (ENSAIT) in France. In the section of electronic textiles, Professor Tao provided a detailed explanation of five advanced textile electronic connection technologies, including snaps, soldering connections, welding, hand embroidery, and conductive adhesive bonding, and analyzed their respective advantages and disadvantages. At the same time, he shared the innovative projects of ENSAIT in the field of smart textiles, demonstrating the cross-border application of textile technology in fields such as medicine and electronics. Additionally, he introduced long-term electronic textiles for monitoring COVID-19, and discussed the protection methods for conductive components, such as thermoplastic polyurethane encapsulation and embroidery reinforcement. The lecture emphasized both theory and practice, providing students with valuable insights into the industry's cutting-edge frontiers.
